Meet the Principal

Dear Sheridan Elementary Students and Families,

My name is April Rennie, and it is with great excitement that I write this letter to introduce myself as your principal.  I am honored to have the opportunity to lead a school with such amazing students, a dedicated staff, and a supportive school community.  I feel fortunate to be a part of this school and to support the students and families of Sheridan.  Here at Sheridan Elementary School, we take pride in "Safety First, Try Your Best, Arrive Ready, and Respect Self and Others.”   
I have been in the field of education for more than fifteen years.  I have worked with students ranging from Preschool through 5th grade in a variety of educational roles.  I have had the pleasure of being a preschool teacher, 4th and 5th grade science teacher, and elementary school teacher.  I have been a part of WPUSD for the past eighteen years, and most recently I have served as the lead Independent Study Elementary Teacher at ATLAS Learning Academy. I am thrilled to bring my skills as an educational leader to Sheridan Elementary School and to work with you as a partner in education to ensure your child’s success.

On a personal note, my husband and I have lived in Placer County for over 20 years.  We have two wonderful children attending a local college. We love to participate in community activities and sports! I am a strong believer that time at home should be for family and extracurricular activities.
 
I view education as a life-long process and expect that I will continue to learn much about the heart of Sheridan this year. Most importantly, I bring a belief that students are at the center of all school-related decisions.  I am excited to unite my experience, my openness to learn, and my child-centered approach to support our students.  Because the relationships between families and the school are vital to the success of our students, I encourage you to become involved in every way possible.  
 
I believe in open communication and want to foster positive relationships with the school and the community.  I am available to talk over the phone by calling the school or via email. I will send out frequent communication to families about what is going on over here at Sheridan as well.  I look forward to meeting you soon!
